Mrs. Martin, the Academy Counselor, relocated to Northern Virginia from Novi, Michigan in 2012. Mrs. Martin has been working at Fairfax Academy since August 2014. Mrs. Martin has nearly 10 years of experience as a school counselor. She was a counselor in Detroit Public Schools and also has a background in vocational rehabilitation counseling, higher educational counseling (transition counseling and financial aid counseling), child and family therapy, as well as foster care. Mrs. Martin attended Wayne State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Community Agency Counseling and School Counseling. She recently completed her Master of Education in Administration and Supervision at the University of Virginia. Mrs. Martin’s favorite part of her job is seeing her students do what they love to do at Fairfax Academy. The passion and talent that the academy students have makes her job very rewarding.
