mct field tripMusic and Computer Technology (MCT) level 1 students from Fairfax Academy enjoyed a full day of hands-on career experiences during a recent field trip to suburban Maryland. The first stop was Omega Studios, a professional recording studio in Rockville, a leader in training professionals for the entertainment industry (specializing in the music, television, radio, video game, and corporate audio industries). They provide a variety of recording, mixing, production, and restoration and transfer services and have four state-of-the-art recording studios, as well as professional gear.  Students toured the studios and had the chance to try out some of the equipment.  They continued their day at Chuck Levin’s Music Center in Wheaton, a family-run operation featuring a huge stock of musical instruments, which they were able to examine and try out.  Their last stop was the House of Musical Traditions in Takoma Park, which stocks unusual folk instruments from all around the world.
